The Nevada County Association of REALTORS® Scholarship Program

Background

The Nevada County Association of REALTORS® is committed to the highest standards of service to our members and the community.  Thus, in creating goals in support of their mission, the association developed the NCAR Scholarship Program which is intended to provide honored recognition and financial support to local Nevada County students who demonstrate a commitment to a higher level of education.

Evaluation criteria

The scholarship program is open to graduating high school seniors attending or planning to enroll and attend community college, a technical college, trade school, four-year college or university.

Applicants for scholarships are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor.  Special consideration and emphasis is placed on REALTOR® family members.

Scholarship applications are reviewed by a select committee of impartial REALTOR® Masters Club Members who believe in the concept of higher education and personal growth.  Applications are first reviewed by career professionals at the Nevada School District offices and sent over for our committee review.

Applicants wishing to receive confirmation of receipt of their applications may send the association a self-addressed, stamped postcard along with their application.

Finalists are chosen based on a point scale and discussion with regard to unique qualifies which set the applicant(s) apart from all other peers.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded through Masters Club fundraising.  The number of scholarships and award amounts are determined annually by budget allocation and caliber of applicants, need, and financial capability of the association.

A minimum of one (1) applicant will be awarded a REALTOR® Family scholarship.

Scholarship award amounts

The amount of the award ranges from $250 – $1,000. This is a one-time cash award sent to individual winners subject to written confirmation of enrollment in a higher education curriculum.

Notification to winners

School staff responsible for scholarship application distribution will be notified of final scholarship recipient selection.  Subsequently, winners will be invited to and notified of their award at the annual Senior Awards Night at each school.  Following the awards, the association will send out a letter from the President confirming and congratulating the scholarship recipients.  The letter further explains the steps required to receive awarded funds.

Disclosure

All applicants should note that the Nevada County Association of REALTORS® Scholarship program is competitive and limited to a select individual group of students. Even students who have a stellar background may not be selected due to the number of superb applications received each year and restricted funding.
