The Friendship Club Helps Girls at Risk

Established in 1995, The Friendship Club is a year-around program that serves about 80-100 girls at-risk in sixth through twelfth grades with a home after school. The girls come from all areas of western Nevada County. REALTORS®, along with over 150 community member volunteers and businesses, help support the Friendship Club.

Here’s how we all can help – Volunteer at the center by calling (530) 265-4311 or participate in one of their fundraising events:

The Power of the Purse Event – Held in March

Held annually in March is an introduction to The Friendship Club.  The Club asks 30 community members to be table captains and invite friends to attend the event.  While there is no cost to attend there are plenty of opportunities to be inspired and we do hope this serves as a launching off point for being involved with The Friendship Club.

Graduation and Scholarship Dinner – May 11

This is the culminating event where we honor our graduating seniors.  Guests enjoy a beautiful dinner catered by Antonio Ayestaran, enjoy meeting and mingling with our seniors and have the opportunity to learn firsthand how The Friendship Club has impacted their lives and their plans for the future.  The cost to attend is $100/per person and includes catered dinner and wine with dinner and a no host bar.

The Friendship 100 – September 18

This unique event brings out fierce competition for some and is downright silly for others.  Held annually at the 49er Fun Park, The Friendship 100 is our largest fundraiser and there is room for everyone to participate!  25 community members commit to raising at least $1,000 for the honor of racing the go-carts.  And 36 teams of four descend on the mini-golf course over two tournaments.  Adult guests enjoy a catered dinner by Antonio Ayestaran and a beer, wine and margarita bar. There are plenty of opportunities for sponsorship.  With over 250 guests, this is a fantastic sponsor opportunity for businesses. Call (530 265-4311 for more information, especially if you’d like to race a car – these coveted spots fill up fast!

Annual Spaghetti Dinner –

Each year, the Friendship Club Leadership Council girls organize and deliver this wonderful dinner event to our community as a benefit for The Friendship Club.  This is a great family-friendly event for a good cause!  The event will be held at the Grass Valley Veteran’s Hall in their dining room from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
